We’re delighted to announce that we’ve purchased a stunning TAGULA yearling filly that will be trained by Group 1 winning trainer Tom Dascombe at Manor House Stables, Cheshire.
The filly was bought last week in Ireland by our bloodstock agent Ed Sackville, in Ed’s words ‘’she’s an absolutely gorgeous filly to look at and correct in every way’’. The filly is very well related, her full brother ‘’Humphrey Bogart’’ is currently trained by Richard Hannon and is a winner at two and was fourth in the Newmarket Royal Lodge (Group 2), 2nd in the Wetherby’s £300k 2-Y-O stakes (Class 2) and fourth in the York Acomb (Group 3). With an official rating of 101 and with £75K in prize money already to his name he looks set for group 1 races as a 3-year-old next year.
We’re looking forward to working with Tom & Michael Owen at Manor House Stables, we feel they can deliver a top class experience for our owners. Let’s hope our filly can follow on from Humphrey Bogart’s success this year.
Double celebrations were in order last night as Florencio won the 0-85 Nursery handicap at Chelmsford and breaks the juvenile track record at the same time! In what was a very competitive race Florencio showed real guts to grind out the win as he and ‘Hope Cove’ pulled clear of the remaining 7 horses.
Now with an official rating of 81 Florencio will end the season on a win and be put away for the winter months, giving him time to develop for his 3-year-old campaign. He looks set to take his owners to all the big meetings next season.
After a 2 month holiday at Kingwood Stud, Miss Sophierose returns to Warren Greatrex’s stable this morning and starts her training regime for the season ahead. After her impressive bumper & Hurdle wins last year we’re looking forward to seeing her over fences this season.
Huge thanks to Lois Greatrex and her team at Kingwood Stud who have done an amazing job looking after Sophie, she returns to Uplands Stable a happy horse.
After a very promising 2nd at Bath 2 weeks ago, Florencio’s owners arrived at Brighton hopeful of a big run and boy did he not disappoint. Florencio travelled well into the race and handled the tricky track really well, in the final furlong Florencio under Martin Dwyer pulled 6 lengths clear of his rivals and won eased down. In what was a very impressive performance he proved his class on soft ground that would not see him at his best – Connections could be heard celebrating for miles.
After a small setback the wait was finally over to see Florencio make his debut! Owners watched on from a hospitality box overlooking Lingfield Park and were pleased with what they saw. Florencio was very green in the race and missed the break, after 3 furlongs he was tailing his rivals by 15 lengths, in the final 3 furlongs he made up huge amounts of ground and ended up finishing a promising 4th! The bare result doesn’t do the run justice as he was so far behind after 3 furlongs it was almost impossible to make up the ground. Martin Dwyer gave him a good educational ride, Florencio would have learnt lot’s and will certainly come on for the run!
Apprentice jockey Eddy Greatrex pulled on the blue & white silks for the first time yesterday at Newbury aboard our 2-Y-O Custodial. Eddy who is apprentice jockey to Andrew Balding is the son of Excel trainerWarren Greatrex, Eddy gave her a great ride and ended up finishing 5th of 15 in a competitive race.
As a syndicate we’re keen to support young apprentice jockeys and give them opportunities, after a brilliant start to the season Eddy looks as though he has a bright future ahead!
Owners enjoyed a fantastic day at Windsor as Custodial comes 6th of 13 on debut!
In what was a rough race Custodial made an eye-catching performance staying on well in the final furlong after missing the break and being bumped several times.
She will have learnt a lot from the race and is sure to improve for the run.
Custodial has been declared to make her debut at Windsor tomorrow in the 2-Year-Old maiden over 6 furlongs, Martin Dwyer has been booked to ride.
It looks an above average race with lots of top connections represented – Fingers crossed she runs well!
